"Bat Walk" in Shepherd Canyon

  • Avenida Playa Veracruz and Corte Playa Encino San Diego, CA 92124 (map)

Enjoy a guided evening walk in East Shepherd Canyon on October 28th from 5pm to 7pm to learn about the species of bats that call San Diego home! San Diego Canyonland's trained Bat Ambassadors will use Echo Meters to echo-locate local bats and will also share amazing bat facts! Meet at the intersection of Avenida Playa Veracruz and Corte Playa Encino. For more info see: Oct 28 Bat Walk

This is a family friendly event with an accessible trail with minimal elevation gain. Participants under 18 need our youth waiver signed prior to the event, or have a parent or guardian sign in on the day of the event. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and weather appropriate attire.

Please note that there might be a chance that we won't see or hear any bats during our walk. Nature can be unpredictable and sometimes bats don't cooperate. If this is the case, we will safely continue our walk and focus on other aspects of the canyon.

Feel free to email info@sdcanyonlands.org or call 619-546-7707 for any questions! We are meeting at the intersection of Avenida Playa Veracruz and Corte Playa Encino in Tierrasanta.
